The Palm Beetle

I had noticed that there are a lot of dead palm trees this year,
But you know how it is, you spot something and then see it everywhere.
But no, there has been an infestation of this little guy killing the trees.

Today is International Women's Day

I was rather surprised to be given a rose at the check out in Lidl  this morning
Left over from Mother's Day ?
Valentine's Day even ??
No.  International Women's Day.
I was feeling that this is a little bit condescending but YES there is an International Men's Day in November.
So, I thought....

An Ode to Paul

Upon this island of Levkas

Lives a very special man

Who has a "really weird" accent

He comes from Birmingham

Amongst the local gentry

His name is superstar

Cos every time he visits

He brings a brand new car

  A black one or a white one

With wheels of chromium steel

The only thing you'll never see

Is Sue behind the wheel

At Concrete Bill's he has his space

And arrives each night with a smiley face

He drives home each night sober

From January to October

And so to Paul the Birthday Boy

I hope today is full of joy

With all your mates and a full wine glass

The day goes on.  More wine, more cake....
But the eyes are getting a bit blurred ...
And Shy has it all on film too - ready for FB I expect

As Bansky says we are not all in the same boat

It seems that a refugee camp will be here on the island

I am trying to track down the artist which was the inspiration for Bansky's painting

The daisies are just a joy

All the land is covered
Except this little area

I picked the heads to go to Agios Paraskavi to the graves of those we have lost, especially recently, Chris, Mike, Margaret, but never forgetting Paul, Danny. 

Books

I forgot to say that I also read the text of Dr Faustus again ready for the play
I studied it at school
I felt a bit self concious that it was not the usual reading round the pool in Marrakech
I tended to cover it up with a towel !!
