Wednesday 6th August - We arrive in Mainz

We passed through one of the many (30-40) locks on the way to Mainz
Mainz cathedral

An interesting column outside the cathedral
It was made of wood and erected during WW1
The local community were asked (actually pressurised, as the names of those who donated were published) to buy nails that were driven into the column
The proceeds were for bereaved families in the town

We visited the Gutenburg Museum where we had a demonstration of how his printing press worked

We then saw one of the first printed bilbles
I cannot resist pics of flowers ....

And so back to the ship
