We walked up to Dolbadarn Castle

(Built in the early 13th Century)

Interesting view over the disused slate quarry & the entrance to Dinorwic Power Station (actually inside the mountain)

And over the remains of the castle and Lake Padarn in the other direction

Very Interesting - and Free !!

We saw a demonstration of slate splitting, and were told that the workers had to split and dress 128 slates to be paid for 100 because of the breakages that occured during subsequent delivery !

Shocking...

Then the question was " If a worker splits 400 slates, how many is he paid for ?"

"291" I shouted at once !

The prize for a right answer was a slate heart

So, I had to buy mine !!!
