Wednesday

We spent yesterday morning at Good Hope Hospital
for a (scheduled) check up on Paul's glaucoma
Three hours of tests and consultation - hardly any waiting
but the results were not so good & it knocked us for six
Feeling a bit more positive today x

Sunday 27th December

Breakfast at Premier Inn
We met up at a local while they were on their way from Devon to Wigan

Lovely lunch with Ingrid (sorry no pic)
and then we went to The Attic Theatre in Stratford
ADULT panto
We were exhausted with laughing !

Today is the anniversary of the massacre in Kalavryta

13th December 1943, 700 people died in Kalavryta and neighbouring villages at the hands of the German army.  All males aged 12 and over were rounded up and shot.
The women and children were locked in a burning school, although most escaped.
Atrocities are by no means a modern day phenomenon.

His house was totally destroyed in the earthquake

The insurance company have condemned it

The road is so damaged that he cannot even drive to his house

Worst of all huge chunks of concrete were everywhere, on his bed, in the bath

Thanks goodness he was in Bulgaria

Sunday lunch at Kato Rachoula

Main courses were super too
I especially liked the spicy meat balls - Paul the chicken wings

And, of course, great company

Lamb came out ok

And we feasted for two days !

I heard Mrs Cat crying outside the back door
And there she was with a bird in her mouth

Chillies

There is a good crop of chillies on our plant
But this is the first one to ripen
Hope we have enough sun to ripen them all

I read the book quite a time ago but now I have watched the movie
Riveting and emotional stuff
Just sorry that so much of it was subtitled as Paul lost interest
