We walked up to Dolbadarn Castle

(Built in the early 13th Century)

Interesting view over the disused slate quarry & the entrance to Dinorwic Power Station (actually inside the mountain)

And over the remains of the castle and Lake Padarn in the other direction

Very Interesting - and Free !!

We saw a demonstration of slate splitting, and were told that the workers had to split and dress 128 slates to be paid for 100 because of the breakages that occured during subsequent delivery !

Shocking...

Then the question was " If a worker splits 400 slates, how many is he paid for ?"

"291" I shouted at once !

The prize for a right answer was a slate heart

So, I had to buy mine !!!

Thursday 12th April

We went on a fascinating tour of the Donorwic Hydro-electric power station in Llanberis

Us at the top of Everest - oops Snowdon !!

Tuesday 10th April

We are staying at the Victoria Hotel in Llanberis - at the foot of Mount Snowdon
(P.S. I have worked out that I can transfer pics using the SD card
Now I just have to hope that my battery holds out !)

Book Club

Wow !!

I was expecting a book about a disturbed young boy

But I think it is really a horror story about motherhood

Meanwhile, I have discovered that I forgot to pack the bit of wire that links my camera to my laptop. Oops !

Sunday 8th April - Happy Easter

Apologies, but I seem to have been spending so much time travelling that I have not seen anything interesting and had my camera out at the same time !

There were 2 excellent shots that I missed....

and a lady getting on a train in Barnsley with an upright vacuum cleaner - well we can't all be lucky enough to have a friend to travel with !!
