Wednesday 29th December

Nice sunny morning so I thought that the succulents could do with a Christmas 'hair cut'
Hope to finish it off tomorrow - weather permitting

Christamas Day

Baby Jesus is safe in his manger

I wonder who delivered them.....
Merry Christmas

Saturday 19th December

Rehearsals continue for the Panto.
However, we felt it was a bit too cold for Snow White to swoon onto the concrete floor
(Having eaten the poisoned apple)
So we found a seasonal volunteer

Kev the Jenga expert

Thursday 16th December

Our chilli plant has suffered a bit in all the wet & windy weather
But not a bad crop!

Wednesday 15th December

London - Athens
Protests all over Europe in the last week
One big difference in Athens is that the Police really DID use tear gas
and the BBC were happy to report no fatalities.....

Tuesday 14th December

We woke up to the first snow of the season on the mountain
It has certainly felt cold enough for snow

Another one for Paul & Cathy

Hello Stavros !
Thanks Thea for the pic

Book Club

I'm not usually a fan of short stories but I felt compelled to read each of these stories at a sitting.
Especially loved the first one that just made me want to rush off & book a ferry to Venice!
Sorry I forget who I need to thank for passing this on to me

Plenty of Snow in England

And the schools are closed again today !!

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

Book Club

I found this one at Aktio Marine
This novel (totally fictioanl) is written as the autobiography of conjoined twins
A strange subject but as one of the reviews inside says:-
"Profoundly funny and moving, poignant but not maudlin"
and I would agree with that
Anyone want it next?

Tuesday 30th November

Tiling all finished
& a beautiful job too !

Monday, November 29, 2010

Monday Monday

You have to ask yourself "Why?"
But maybe worth sticking with it until the end.....

Saturday 20th November

Book Club

I spotted this book in the bestsellers section in Manchester Airport

It reminded me that a copy was on my shelf upstairs!

I think that this could be called "Women's fiction"
but well writtten and an interesting plot

I did not like it..

However I will search out a copy of her next novel

'House Rules'

This copy is on the way to the Community Room

Sand & cement arrived ok this morning

8.30 am!

Friday, November 19, 2010

Friday 19th November

Alex and the digger arrived around 8.00am thismorning
I wasn't dressed so I took this from the bedroom!
Paul watched enthralled with it all

This gives some idea of the finished plan
The ditch is for the foundations of the wall

And now the steel is in ready for the foundations
& a lorry load of stone has arrived so that we have enough to finish the wall
Onward & upward tommorrow?

Thursday 18th November

When I had the idea of the blog I always intended to include books that I am reading, but just never got round to it

This is the last book that I finished
The first Ian Rankin / Inspector Rebus novel that I have read
Really enjoyed it - and can recomend it
If you want to track it down I gave it to Linda...

Tuesday 16th November

The mystery of Alex and the JCB is solved!
He is due next Sunday - not last
Thank you so much Mr Savva..
Meanwhile Paul has taken down the rest of the wall

and I have finished the geraniums.
This bucket of twigs looks even more of a work of art than yesterday..
Or should I get out more?

This is how they look now..

Anyone need cuttings?
